Don’t Judge The Caterpillar

There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly.” ― Buckminster Fuller

You can’t look at the caterpillar and say, “It’s going to be a butterfly” unless you already knew that from having seen it before or being told that.

The caterpillar looks nothing like the butterfly that it will become. It looks like a worm or a fuzzy worm.

So, when you look at others or look at yourself, you just don’t know what is possible for you or for them. Greatness is possible. Just because it isn’t apparent now does not rule out the possibility that greatness could develop!!

So it’s time to release that judgment that says that you KNOW who someone will develop into or you KNOW what you can and cannot do.

If you would like to do something, perhaps now is the time to GO FOR IT!! Reach for it! You never know what might develop.

I know that I wanted to be an astronaut, so I went for it, I applied. Now, I didn’t get accepted into the astronaut program, however, I did go on to work on the Space Shuttle program for over 25 years!

So don’t judge your “results” when they are not QUITE what you intended. They might still be close, they might be “in the same family” and might actually make you happy!

The same is true of judging others. You never know what they may be capable of accomplishing. So support their dreams. Allow their greatness to develop, even if it isn’t what you think they should do. They are looking for happiness too!!

Dreams come in many forms. Nourish them!

One day they may blossom into a beautiful new butterfly!!
