Is Life A Competition?

Do you make everything in life a competition??

Is it a constant comparison to others? A constant judgment of others?

When you’re doing that what contest are you having? Who can be happiest and have the most fun or who can be most miserable and have the most problems?

People so often try to one-up each other on problems, pains, and difficulties.

One will say, “I got stuck in traffic.” Then another replies, “Well I got a flat tire.” And the third one says “I wrecked my car.” Which might even trigger another round of one-upmanship.

Have you heard this sort of thing?

How often have you heard people one-upping on happy things? It may happen, but it’s rare.

Most often the competition is who has the most pains or most medications or most problems because misery seems to be more acceptable than happiness.

People seem to doubt and question happiness but they consider misery and pain to just be the norm.

Is that what you desire for and as your life?

How do you shift that into more happiness?

It’s always your choice.

You can choose not to participate in the competition.

Change the subject.  Ask a question about something pleasant. Or even be blunt and say, “Hey can we talk about something more enjoyable?”

Changing your life is all about questions and choice.

Ask “What other choices and possibilities do I have here?”

“How can I change this?”

“What can I choose to make my life more enjoyable?”

Have fun with life. Stop taking it so seriously.

Life doesn’t have to be a competition for misery.

Allow yourself to be happy.
