Do You Question Happiness?

Have you ever been happy and started questioning why you are happy?

Does that make sense to you?

Recently I was happy about events that were occurring around Thanksgiving.  There was nothing special about what was going on and yet I was just so happy that I started questioning why I was happy, what was creating this, why wasn’t I just letting it go instead of focusing on the happiness.

Then I just literally stopped and said to myself, “For what reason would you question being happy? Why would you want to deny yourself happiness simply because you don’t know where it is coming from?”

I wanted to do that slap on the forehead “DUH” type of action.

What was the point in asking where happiness was coming from? I mean, really, does the source of happiness matter so much that you’d give up being happy simply to figure out where it was coming from?

Where does that come from?

My guess is that we are so conditioned by society to be unhappy and to share our unhappiness that when happiness comes out of nowhere like that, we have to question it because we just aren’t used to it.

Let me ask you, wouldn’t you rather allow happiness to BECOME the norm for you instead? Wouldn’t that make life more enjoyable? Wouldn’t that bring you more joy and more fun?

So the next time I start questioning my happiness, I think that I will slap myself in the forehead and say, “Just be happy!”

How about you?
