Dead Ends Reveal Hidden Doorways
Sometimes dead ends reveal hidden doorways leading us to bigger questions and the search for higher truths.
That was the message I received from a meditation in 2009.
I came across it recently in one of my journals and it got me thinking.
What happens when I believe I have reached a dead end?
What do you do?
Do you give up? Do you believe you failed or were wrong in what you did?
Or do you look around and ask what else is there? Is something hidden from your view?
Maybe that thing is hidden because you were expecting something in particular to show up and it didn’t. Often when what was expected doesn’t show up people conclude that nothing showed up, that everything is wrong and is a complete failure.
But, what if, just what if you looked around and asked what DID actually show up?
What showed up that is for YOU that isn’t what you planned for or planned on, and yet it is just what you need now?
Have you ever heard the song by the Rolling Stones called You Can’t Always Get What You Want? It says:
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime you find
You get what you need
And it’s true, you can’t always get what you want or perhaps in the way that you want it to show up, but sometimes you get exactly what you need.
So, what do you do?
Look around. Ask what really did show up. Then explore if what showed up is really what is needed right now. Ask if it contributes to you. Ask if it works for you.
Ask more questions.
You might discover that you haven’t really reached a dead end at all.
Instead you have simply reached a slightly different destination.
